Cooks Academy
For my first week of work experience I worked at Cook Academy cookery school on William Street South, Dublin two. I worked 9 to 4 from Monday to Friday ( 4th - 8th of December ). The working environment was very pleasant and the staff were really nice and always had jobs for me to do. The cookery school was very quiet in the mornings as the first classes wouldn't start till 2 PM giving the staff and I enough time to organise and prepare the work place. The duties performed were cleaning, cooking, organising, and I also work as a receptionist. I really enjoyed the tasks I was given and they gave me a good idea of the duties that are performed on a regular basis in the workplace. Some of the days I worked there I was told to walk down Grafton Street and give out flyers and also deliver a number of flyers to local tourist booths. The main rules that were set out for me was to be on time, be careful with equipment and not to lift anything heavy in case i injure myself other than that I was very hands on with things to do. I got on really well to staff at the workplace as they are really kind i think they were thankful that i was there to help them and they really took advantage of me being there by getting me to do the simple things that would be quite time-consuming for them. Aspects that interested me about the experience was the amount of work to be done on an every day basis, how busy the workplace can get on and how well the staff got on with each other.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and working on a cookery school. I am very grateful that I got the opportunity to work there and I'm satisfied that the work I did give me a good indication of any typical working environment.
I mí na nollag, bhí me ag obair isteach i scoil cócaireachta i mbaile athá cliath. Bhí an t-atmaisphere isteach an scoil an-taitneamhach agus bhí na hoibrithean-deas. D'oibrigh mé gach lá ó naoi a chlog go trí a agus abhaile. D'oibrigh mé leis an bhfoireann a ghlanadh na cishne agus ag ullmhú bia. Nuair a chríochnaigh mé mo oibre, rinné mé dinnéar agus chuaigh mé abhaile ar an mbus. Táim an-sásta leis n obair a rinné agus bhí sé an-taitneamhach.

Action 24 security
I participated in work experience from the 26th to the 2nd of March in action 24 security. The office is situated in Sandyford business Park and I worked there every day from 10-4pm. The company I worked in is a big security company that offers security for family homes and businesses that operates 24 hours a day monitoring and protecting its customers. The first day I worked with a locksmith and he showed me the types of day-to-day jobs that they have to do for the company and what type problems they face. I found that first day quite interesting and I enjoyed going around and seeing what type of problems the company faces and how they work to resolve them. The second day I worked in the monitoring room looking at different calls and monitoring cameras for customers. I spent most of my day helping out with the paperwork and reading about recent incidents that the company had dealt with. Unfortunately with the heavy snow in my area and around Dublin I didn’t make it to work on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday as I was told not to risk coming in okay I couldn’t get home. Even though it was a short work experience term I still learnt a lot about the company and how it’s run managed and I really enjoyed experience I was given.
Rinne mé taithí oibre ón fiche ceathrú den feabhra go dtí an dara lá de marta i Action 24 security. D'oibrigh mé le stiúrthóir sa ghnó agus d'oibrigh mé le locksmith freisin. D'oibrigh mé ar feadh dhá lá ag cuidiú leis an stiúrthóir agus san oifig. Bhí sé ag cur sneachta ar an gcéadaoin, an déardaoin agus dé haoine agus dfhan mé sa baile. Bhí an obair an-taitneamhach agus bhí brón orm mar faraor mar níor oibrigh mé ar an gceadaoin, an déardaoin agus de haoine.

Cuisle properties
I participated in work experience from the 5th to the 9th of March mainly to do with the fact that the week previous I only had two days of work experience due to heavy snow. I worked in a company called Cuisle properties and I was given the chance to work with the manager. I worked every day from 10-4 in Dublin city centre. I learnt about the different types of properties in Dublin and prices that they go for, I also got to see properties in renovation that are planned to serve as accommodation for students looking for apartments to rent in Dublin. I learned how much rent apartments make in Dublin based on their size and number bedrooms and I also learned about mortgages and what it takes to our in an investment property. Overall I thought the work experience was highly interesting and very relevant to what I am learning in economic‘s in school I now have a good idea on how the property market works in Dublin.
St.Vincent de paul
For my community service week I volunteered to work in the St. Vincent De Paul charity shop in Bray. I worked every day from 10 AM till 2 PM. I was interested to work there as I complete two hours of work every Tuesday there for my Gaisce so I knew the shop and the manager well. The tasks I completed on a day-to-day basis include, cleaning, sorting and helping the manager in any way I could. One thing I enjoyed about working in the charity shop was that there was always lots of jobs for me to do. Most days there is up to 3 members of staff working including the manager so we all worked at the different sections, the main shop, the counter and the back keeping to a very organised schedule.
Overall I really enjoyed the experience and I really got on well with all the staff making it really enjoyable and easy to work there.
